Delivery

UK Deliveries

We use the Royal Mail 1st Class service to make sure you get your goodies when you expect them.

Standard UK Delivery (excluding Highland & Islands) – £4.95

We use Royal Mail 1st Class delivery which arrives within 2-3 business days.

Standard UK Delivery for Orders Over £59 – FREE

We use Royal Mail 1st Class delivery which arrives within 2-3 business days.

Special Delivery Guaranteed® UK **  – £10.95

We use Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed - a next-day delivery serivce for orders placed before 1pm Monday – Thursday. Orders placed on Friday will be delivered on Monday. This service is trackable and will require a signature.

**UK Express delivery is NOT guaranteed to the following postcodes and areas – most of the Scottish Highlands, any remote areas, including nearly all AB, IV, KW, LA, PA, PH, BT, CA18 - CA27, HS1 - HS9, IM, TR21 - TR25, ZE postcodes.

Business days are Monday-Friday, counted from the following day you receive your despatch notification.  

Click & Collect

Click & Collect from our Chichester store is FREE!

Simply select 'Pick up' when you reach checkout and we'll aim to have it ready for you to collect from our Chichester shop within 24 hours.

Sewing Machine Deliveries

Sewing machine delivery is FREE within the UK, and this takes usually 2-3 days by courier.

Unfortunately, we do not ship sewing machines internationally.

European Deliveries

We use Royal Mail International Standard Shipping, which takes 5 – 14 working days depending on the location. This service is not trackable. For urgent European orders please contact us first.

Small Parcels Less than 1kg - £7.25
Medium Parcels 1kg to 1.99kg - £11.25
Large Parcels 2 to 3.99kg -  £16
Heavy Parcels 4kg - 25kg - £25

If you are importing any of our items, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for compliance with importing laws and requirements of the country to which the items are shipped and this is entirely at your own expense and risk.

In addition to the purchase price of the items, you accept full responsibility for any and all handling charges, shipping costs, insurance, import duties, fees, liabilities and tax/duty costs, which may arise or apply to your order and transportation.

Whilst we will do all we can to assist (e.g. special packaging etc which may involve extra payment by you to us), we will not be responsible for any non-delivery or import duty charged or any fines or impositions as a result of any import or attempted import.

International Deliveries

Medium Parcels 0.5 to 0.99kg - £18

What payment methods can I use?

You can pay with one of the following payment methods: Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Promo & discount codes

Discount codes should be applied in the 'Discount' box shown in the 'Order Summary' on the first page of the Checkout.

Discount codes do not apply to already discounted items. 

Discount Codes cannot be used to discount the purchase price of a Clothkits Gift Card. 

Can I buy a gift card?

Sure! Gift Cards can be purchased online and are electronic. You can buy a gift card here and are available in £5, £10, £25, £50 and £100 denominations.

The Gift Card will be issued via email to the purchaser who can then forward the details to the intended recipient.

Clothkits Gift Cards never expire!

How do I redeem a gift card?

To redeem your Clothkits Gift Card, you will need the unique code which you'll find on the original email sent when the Gift Card was issued, or via your Account (if the Gift Card has been linked).

When placing a new order, the Gift Card code can be entered into the 'Gift Card or Discount Code' box which can be found in the 'Order Summary' on the first page of the Checkout. Please enter the code and select the 'Apply' button. 

Multiple gift cards may be redeemed against a single order. 

If the full Gift Card value is not redeemed when placing an order, then the unspent balance will remain assigned to the Gift Card to be used in the future. 

The balance of a Gift Card can be checked via your Account, or by selecting the link in the original Gift Card email or by Contacting Us 

It is not possible to use a Gift Card to pay for the purchase of another Gift Card.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return a product?

If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy.  You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange or a refund.

Please make sure that you enclose a note of your name, address, purchase date and order number in your return.

Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition. Non-returnable items include kits once they have been cut, cut lengths of fabric, ribbons or trim, samples, sale items, and ex-demonstration items.

Please make sure that your return is well packed (use the packaging the products were sent in). We cannot accept liability for goods lost or damaged in transit therefore we would recommend that you obtain a free ‘Certificate of Posting’ from the Post Office or choose to send the goods by Recorded Delivery.

Delivery charges will apply to exchanges unless the goods are deemed faulty or we have made an error.

We aim to process returns and issue refunds within 14 days of receiving them. 

Non returnable items

Do you offer exchanges?

Sure! It's probably best to contact us first to make sure we have what you require in stock.

How will you refund me?

We refund to your original method of payment.

Credit/debit card - If you paid by credit or debit card, we’ll refund the same card originally used to place and pay for the order. It may take up to 5 working days depending on your bank.

You will be notified once your return is processed and your refund is complete.

I have received the wrong item

We are so sorry! We want to sort out any issues with incorrect items straight away, so if one of the items you received isn't what you ordered, please send it back to us and we'll send you the correct item. Please contact us and we will send you a postage label for your return.

I have received a faulty item

We are sorry if you have received a faulty item. Please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order, quoting your order number along with details of the problem. If you can provide us with images of the problem that will speed things up.

If we can confirm that there was a fault present when we originally dispatched the order you will be entitled to whichever we see fit, either a replacement or full refund, including postage charges via your original payment method.

Can I teach a sewing class using your Clothkits sewing patterns?

Yes, you can! If you plan to include the pattern in the price of the course, we can offer a wholesale discount on bulk purchases – please drop us a line at at info {at} clothkits.co.uk for further information. Please be sure to credit the pattern to Clothkits.

What exactly is a Clothkit?

The heritage of Clothkits spans 50 years, having been originally founded in 1968 by Anne Kennedy around the kitchen table. After leaving Camberwell College of Art, Anne came up with the simple and ingenious idea of printing dressmaking pieces straight on to coloured fabric, with simple instructions that almost anyone could follow. In 1968 she launched Clothkits from her kitchen table in Lewes.

It grew to enormous proportions, and by the late 1980’s Clothkits employed over 400 staff from the Lewes headquarters. Eventually bought out by catalogue giant Freemans, the identity of the Clothkits company was swallowed up by this new owner and made dormant. After a period of 17 years in hibernation, our Sussex based firm re-launched in 2008 with a fresh new collection of gorgeous outfits for you to cut and sew at home.

Clothkits Workshops

How do I book a workshop?

All our courses are available to book online. Alternatively you are welcome to telephone us, or pop into the shop to make a booking. Course spaces cannot be held without payment and spaces are limited, so do sign up early!

Course cancellation

If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

If we have at least 6 weeks notice before the course start date, it is possible to transfer your course fee / deposit to another course.

Course fees are non-refundable. No refunds can be made to those who fail to attend a course in full or in part.

You may send someone in your place, in which case we will need their contact details (name, address, e-mail address and telephone number) in advance so that arrangements can be made where possible, and confirmation details can be passed on.

Clothkits reserves the right to cancel any course at short notice. In this event you will be notified as soon as possible and you will be offered a full refund, or you may transfer to an alternative date.

We do not accept liability for travel or other costs.

Do I need to bring anything to the workshop?

The materials and tools needed for each class varies, so please refer to the course description.

You will receive a 10% discount on your class day if you wish to purchase supplies in the shop, however it’s best to plan ahead and arrive early in case it is busy. If you’d like to buy your supplies prior to class day, just let us know and we’ll provide you with a discount code.
