Clothkits Workshops

Creative Sewing & Craft Classes in the Heart of Chichester

Looking to learn a new skill or build confidence in your sewing? Our Clothkits studio hosts a welcoming programme of sewing and creative craft classes in Chichester for complete beginners through to experienced makers. As one of the leading destinations for sewing classes in West Sussex, we focus on practical skills, creativity and the enjoyment of making in a relaxed studio environment.

If you’re new to sewing, our beginner sewing course and Learn to Sew sessions are the ideal introduction. You’ll learn to use a sewing machine and overlocker, master essential techniques and gain the confidence to start your own projects, with guidance from experienced tutors in small, supportive groups.

For more experienced makers, our Sewing Bee techniques and dressmaking classes provide the opportunity to refine skills, tackle more advanced sewing methods and enjoy time sewing alongside fellow creatives. We also run specialist textile sessions including sashiko workshop and darning workshop experiences, celebrating visible mending, slow stitching and thoughtful approaches to sustainable sewing.

Alongside sewing and dressmaking, you’ll also find knitting, crochet and weaving classes, plus creative home décor favourites such as our lampshade making workshop.

Whether you’re developing existing skills or trying something completely new, our Chichester studio offers an inspiring space to make, learn and create.

5-STAR REVIEWS!

After years of wishing I could sew I decided to make a change by attending the Beginners Sewing Course. I LOVED IT. I experienced many mistakes but by having Maria, the expert tutor, on hand I learned loads. I ended up with a lovely Tote bag that looks snazzy. I experienced the joy that so many sewers talk about when they have sat down and produced an item from just a few scraps of material. Well worth giving it a go. I will make a few more items on my own sewing machine then sign up for another course soon.

Do I need to bring my own sewing machine, tools or material?

For most of our workshops, everything is ready and waiting for you. We have a fleet of Janome sewing machines and all the usual sewing tools available to use in the studio, so there’s no need to bring your own unless you’d like to. You’re very welcome to bring along your own sewing kit, or to buy anything you need on the day from our shop. Some specialist workshops may require specific items, and these will always be clearly listed on the workshop page, so do have a quick read before booking.

You’ll receive a 10% discount in the shop on the day of your class if you’d like to buy supplies, though we recommend arriving a little early in case it’s busy. If you’d prefer to purchase your supplies in advance, just let us know and we’ll be happy to provide a discount code.

If a workshop is sold out, don’t worry - we regularly add new dates and repeat popular sessions. It’s always worth keeping an eye on the website, as spaces do pop up. For first dibs on new dates, we recommend signing up to our newsletter, and of course, you’re very welcome to get in touch with us to be added to a waiting list, or to ask about upcoming sessions.

Can I book a workshop as a gift?

Yes, workshops make a lovely gift. Whether it’s for someone who’s always wanted to learn to sew or an experienced maker looking to try something new, our workshops offer a memorable, hands-on experience in a friendly setting.
