Crochet for Improvers - The Granny Squares Workshop | Chichester Crochet Course
This session is suitable for those who have made a start at experimenting with crochet. If you are getting to grips with holding your hook & yarn and have had a little play with the basic stitches - you are ready to have a go at the ever popular Granny Square! It's the most versatile pattern out there and can be used to create blankets, cushions, gorgeous garments, bags, accessories and even slippers! Melanie can take you through the steps of creating your first square and help you to read a granny square pattern or chart. As with all our workshops, we have plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits to keep the grey matter alert!
About your Teacher:
Melanie is a professional fibre artist who produces and sells unique hand-spun yarns, as well as crocheted, knitted and hand-dyed garments, through her business 'Spiral Spin' at Draper's Yard. She has perfected her craft following years of experience in weaving, knitting, crocheting and spinning, backed up by formal studies in fine art, at which time wood block printing was her passion. These days you're most likely to find Melanie behind her faithful spinning wheel 'Spiral' unless you're lucky enough to be joining her in one of her fantastic workshops!
Maximum class size of 8.
For improvers - come and join the session with your chosen project. Melanie can get you started with your first granny square project and help you read a pattern or chart.
Basic materials are included, but if you would like to buy your own, we have a lovely selection available in our shop.
Half a day.
Workshops are held in our colourful and cosy studio, above the shop. There is lots of space to spread out and a separate chill out area to have a break. The shop is located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.
