Bargello Patchwork Quilt Workshop | Chichester Quilting Course
Patchwork has never been so cool - and rightly so as it is great fun and produces beautiful results. This course is suitable for the complete beginner, and teaches use of the rotary cutter and mat for quick, easy patchwork. You will make the whole quilt top during the sessions, and be shown the methods for finishing your quilt, including machine and hand quilting.
About your Teacher:
Karen Berry is a textile artist and an expert teacher of patchwork, quilting and applique. She is a font of all knowledge when it comes to patchwork and quilting, and even presents on the history and traditions of this ancient craft.
Maximum class size of 6.
Ideal for complete beginners, but equally satisfying for those with a little more skill.
To make this Bargello quilt you’ll need twenty 30cm x 112cm (width of fabric bolt) pieces of fabric. It’s ok to use large patterns, but bear in mind that your fabrics will be cut into small pieces, so choose your fabrics for their colours rather than their pattern – don’t think too hard, just choose colours that you like and we’ll take it together from there!
If you are familiar with jelly roll fabrics, you can buy two matching jelly rolls which will save you the first stage of cutting – you must ensure each jelly roll contains 40 different strips of fabric, and that both jelly rolls are exactly the same.
Choose one of these two options – please note this bargello quilt can’t be made from your scraps, you do need to start with the “width of fabric” pieces detailed.
This will be enough fabric to produce a quilt top approx 80” x 62”
4 weekly sessions, each lasting 3 hours.
Workshops are held in our colourful and cosy studio, above the shop. There is lots of space to spread out and a separate chill out area to have a break. The shop is located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.
